March 7 — Lisa Degrace in Flying Iron @ 8pm
“To convey the metaphorical weight of personal baggage in her solo show Flying Iron, Lisa DeGrace relies on a very literal prop: an iron hoop skirt contained under a spectacular 20-foot-diameter dress. DeGrace trained in the Pochinko method, a special style of Canadian clowning that involves masks and takes its cues from the trickster-character tradition to reveal truths about the human condition. Costumes, movement, music and text figure into the piece; which was cancelled twice last December due to Snowpocalypse ’08, although fans of Lulu’s Confections’ Cookie Lady have already seen DeGrace pedaling past on her pink tricycle.” — Heather Wisner, Willamette Week
