Dec. 12 || Audition || Linda Austin’s “A head of time”

What: Audition
When: Dec. 12 3-6pm
Where: Performance Works NorthWest, 4625 SE 67th Ave. Portland, OR

Me: I am a choreographer and a performer. I have been making dance and performance for 25 years. I dance everywhere and all the time.

The grounds of my work: The puzzle of the human body and its awkward, lyrical and often accidental beauty. Choreography as a process of physical, visible & invisible thinking and sensing. Dancing is everywhere and all the time.

A favorite quote: My vision of the dancer, through the intervention of performance as a practice, is as a conscious flow of multiple perceptual occurrences unfolding continuously. — Deborah Hay

A head of time: Your head is full of time! Check out http://lindapaustin.wordpress.com for some of the underpinnings for this project.

You: You are a dancer with a strong commitment to a collaborative group process, extensive movement experience and strong compositional and improvisational skills. You are willing to do a little bit of independent movement “homework.” You derive enjoyment from embarking on a voyage with an unknown destination. You are curious about both the conceptual and kinetic motors driving the process. You can obsess over detail yet soften into nebulosity and indeterminacy.

You must be available for performing an in-progress version Sunday afternoon April 3 at the Art Gym at Marylhurst U. and for other dates later in the spring and in the fall to be determined.

Rehearsals begin in February, probably late afternoon/early evening Wednesdays and Sundays.

Financial compensation available—exact amount dependent on funding.

RSVP if you plan to attend or are interested, but can’t make the audition date: lindapaustin at mac dot com or leave a message here.
