Wednesday July 16 :: FLOCK
An Evening with Trio A

Linda Austin, Jen Hackworth, & Lucy Yim will perform Yvonne Rainer’s Trio A, a seminal work of the post-modern dance period. The work was officially transmitted by Linda K. Johnson who has been working with the dancers to recreate the work & extend this historical breath of dance making. Johnson will also be performing in the work & talk about her process & relationship to Trio A.

 As part of the evening, Linda K. Johnson will screen a video document of Axis Dance Company of the SF Bay Area performing Trio A Pressued #X, a specific translation of Trio A created for them by Johnson in 2014. Axis is one of the most acclaimed physically integrated dance companies in the world, & the first to perform a mixed ability version of Trio A with Rainer’s permission.

Also, Linda Austin will perform MUTT  which was created as an homage to Trio A, using similar restrictions: no repetition, even pacing, no momentum, avoiding the gaze of the audience & more. While Austin has created duet & group versions of MUTT, she will be performing the work as a solo for the evening. Learn More…

Tuesday July 22 :: HOLOCENE
BILL OF GOODS: Cruel Summer

Another edition of a quarterly series centered around modern dance, Bill of Goods. This iteration’s theme is CRUEL SUMMER. Inspired by vacations gone wrong and summertime blues, dancers bring to Holocene paradoxical sensations and leave it on the dance floor. This is sure to be as unconventional as we hope our summer to be.

9pm | $5.00 day of show
HOLOCENE 1001 SE Morrison, Portland 97214, @10th
