Award-winning choreographer Blake Beckham (Atlanta, GA) is an Alembic Resident Artist at Performance Works Northwest. This FREE workshop for intermediate and advanced level movers is designed to introduce Beckham’s movement and choreographic methods to the Portland community. Blake is seeking to connect with local dancers who might be interested in collaborating with her during continued explorations throughout the month of September at PWNW, with the potential to take part in a culminating performance. Class will begin with a warmup and phrase work followed by improvisations investigating touch, proximity and connectivity with a partner. How do we approach and retreat from contact? How do we embody the needs, expectations, intimacies and fears of “staying in touch” ?
