June 25 || Moving History: Portland Contemporary Dance Past & Present

PWNW is excited to host this video project by Eric Nordstrom that begins to trace the multiple interconnecting trajectories of Portland dance of the past and present.

What is the history of modern dance in Portland? How do today’s dancers stand on the shoulders of decades of Portland dancers and choreographers who established this community? Please join filmmaker, Eric Nordstrom and many of the film subjects for a work in progress showing of the first comprehensive film to address dance history in Portland. As part of the evening, a collection of dance films by Portland filmmakers will be shown, including Carolyn Altman and Bonnie Merrill’s “Off Location”, “Waking the Green Sound” by Wobbly’s Yulia Arakelyan & Erik Ferguson, “Transfer” by Patrick Weishampel, and Carla Mann’s “Ching”.
