In June I spent a great 10 days visiting/re-visiting New York, where I lived from 1976 to 1998. While there, I re-connected with many old friends, visited the Highline for the first time, saw performances by NTUSA at the Kitchen, Koosil-Ja at the Performing Garage (loved it!), a bit of the Bang on a Can Marathon at the World Financial Center, plotted with colleagues an upcoming artist-in-residence program, went to museums (Keith Haring retrospective!), checked out NYC style food carts, got a pedicure, walked and walked, met with Clarinda Mac Low to
talk about my participation in her upcoming Pronouns project at Danspace, and, as part of the 20th Year Anniversary Celebration of the performance series Movement Research at the Judson Church, performed a sketch towards an upcoming solo called Three Trick Pony which will take place in an interactive, mutable environment designed by David Eckard. This event was a great opportunity to re-connect with dance and performance folks, most of whom are old friends.
