STUDIO CLOSURE
The studio is currently closed weekday daytimes due to a bathroom construction project. Projected completion date is February 20 2026.
Evenings and weekends are available. Please check back later for updates.

RENTAL REQUESTS
1.5 hour minimum. Please don’t contact us with a rental request until you have checked availability on the studio calendar (see below)

Vaccinations encouraged! Masks optional for rehearsals and workshops. The space is equipped with an air-purifier

STUDIO CALENDAR & HOW TO BOOK

FIRST TIME USERS: One week in advance preferred: plus payment in advance after booking is confirmed.
OTHERS: 48 hours in advance please.

1 – CHECK AVAILABILITY:
Go to pwnw.skedda.com — The times listed on the calendar are the times already booked.

2 – PLEASE INCLUDE ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE TIMES as part of your request, as the outside door enters directly into studio. There is no waiting room or lobby.

3 -TO BOOK STUDIO TIME, EMAIL us at studio@pwnw-pdx.org.
Be as specific as possible with your request, e.g. “I would like to rent Thursday Oct 21, 6-8pm.

4 – PAYMENT & CANCELATION POLICY:
For bookings more than one week out: You will receive an invoice payable one week before the booking. Cancelation before that, no charge. After that, no refund, but possible partial credit for future booking.
For bookings less than one week out: Cancelation 48 hours in advance, please.

STUDIO RENTAL RATES

REHEARSAL / PRACTICE / CREATION: 1.5 hour minimum per session
$12/hr Includes use of sound system.
Use of projector or theatrical lighting system only with advance permission & training. Use of lighting system entails an additional $2/hr surcharge.

INFORMAL SHOWINGS
Includes use of lighting, projector, and off-stage spaces, and simple tech help or consultation from staff
$18/hour | $20/hour beginning June 2025

OTHER EVENTS/PARTIES
$50/hr. in the space from load-in to load-out
+ $75 cleaning and facility manager fee

CLASSES/WORKSHOPS
Current Rates:
8 participants or more: $20/hr.
Fewer than 8: $18/hr.

If booked more than 6 weeks out, we ask for a 25% deposit at the time of booking.
Full refund or credit if canceled up to 3 weeks out. Partial refund of deposit if canceled 1-3 weeks prior to first class. No refund if canceled less than 1 week out

STAND-ALONE WORKSHOP BOOKINGS, YES.
ONGOING WEEKLY CLASSES, PROBABLY NOT.
LIMITED SESSIONS (for example a 6-8 week weekly workshop) MAY BE POSSIBLE but not more than five months out.

THE PWNW SPACE

Uses: movement, contemporary dance, theater rehearsals, meetings, workshops, short-term class series (e.g. a 6-week series). Certain types of music rehearsals also work here. Not suitable for percussive dance styles: clogging, tap, flamenco, etc, as these mark and/or damage the floor.
NOTE: priority is given to uses that align with our non-profit arts mission.

Dimensions: approx. 30′ x 40′ with risers at one end.
Available rehearsal area 900-1000 SF
Typical performing area approx. 30′ wide x 25′ deep. Normally seats 39-50 for performances.
Ceiling is 12′ center, arcing down to 8′ either side.

Floor: variegated gray marley-type dance floor over wood. Quite springy. There are mirrors but they don’t go down to the floor. No tap-dancing or other percussive dancing shoes. Avoid shoes that leave scuff marks.

Sound system: 12 channel Mackie mixer and two powered QSC K8 sepakers. Input for laptop, phone or mp3 player. One Shure mic & mic stand. D/DVD player upon request. No piano.
